Welcome to Wynter OT Resources

Hi, I’m Jacqueline. I’m an occupational therapist with more than two decades of experience working with children in school-based settings. For most of my career, I’ve focused on one thing: helping kids build the skills they need to fully access and participate in their educational environments.

Along the way, I learned something important: kids learn best when they’re sincerely engaged and excited. That belief led me to create Wynter OT Resources, a growing collection of OT resources for early learners, primarily for children from Pre-K through 2nd grade.

I developed the resources from real classroom and therapy experience, designed to make skill-building more interesting, practical, and accessible for therapists, educators, and families.

It Started With a Fish

One day, I was watching my betta fish and noticed something. As its mouth opened and closed, it looked like a pair of scissors. As a school-based OT, my mind jumped straight to fine motor skills, scissor practice, and the kids I worked with each day.

From there, that single observation sparked an idea that has kept growing.

At first, I created characters. Then my sister helped bring them to life through her artwork. Together, we built Wynter’s Bay, an underwater world where characters support skill development in a way that seems more like play than work.

Meet a few of them:

Sandy, Chop-Chop, Olin, and Ora, four Wynter's Bay characters representing writing, cutting, prewriting, and calming

The characters are also designed to reflect different interests, backgrounds, and abilities so more children can see themselves represented in the world they’re learning through.

Why I Created a Resource Library

I know what it’s like to search for resources that are developmentally appropriate, easy to use, and actually engaging for the kids in front of you.

So I built something I wish I’d had: a curated collection of resources that supports fine motor development, early learning, and other fundamental skills while staying practical for real classrooms, therapy sessions, and homes.

That became Wynter OT Resources.

The Resource Library began with 60 resources covering fine motor skills, handwriting, prewriting, scissor skills, numeracy, literacy, executive functioning, visual supports, social-emotional learning, and more. Some resources are printable PDFs, while others incorporate video or interactive experiences.

As the library grows, the goal is not simply to add as many resources as possible. I want it to remain organized, useful, and focused on resources that support the needs of early learners.

Who Wynter OT Resources Is For

Wynter OT Resources is for therapists, educators, and families. Each group may use the resources differently, but they share the same goal: helping children develop foundational skills in ways that keep them engaged.

For Therapists

The resources support skill progression, foundational readiness, and continued practice. The activities address many areas, which include fine motor, visual-motor, handwriting, prewriting, executive functioning, and early learning skills.

For Educators

Instructors can incorporate my classroom-ready resources into centers, small groups, independent work, and other learning activities. They are designed to support foundational skills while helping keep children motivated and engaged.

For Families

The resource activities are designed with intention, and the goal is to keep them straightforward and easy to use even at home. Guided instructions can help families understand how to use a resource and the skills it supports, making it easier to incorporate practice naturally through play and everyday activities.

What You’ll Find in this Blog

This Wynter OT Resources Blog will also share what is happening across the Resource Library and explore topics that may be useful to therapists, educators, and families.

You can expect posts about Resource Library updates, early learning and skill development, and occupational therapy research and practice. I’ll also share new resources, ideas for using them, and other information connected to the work behind Wynter OT Resources.

As the Resource Library grows, this Blog will provide more context about the resources themselves and the skills and foundations they can help support.

What the Resources Are Grounded In

I design every resource in the Wynter OT Resource Library and Shop thoughtfully, with real occupational therapy experience behind it.

More than two decades of working in classrooms, with families, and in therapy settings have taught me a lot about what helps children participate, practice, and grow. That experience continues to inform the resources we create and how Wynter OT Resources develops.

This is only the beginning, and we are excited to continue building it.

Welcome to Wynter OT Resources, specifically designed for early learners, where Wynter’s Bay comes to life. I’m so glad you’re here.
